Japanese automaker Toyota announced that it broke the world record for the longest drive using hydrogen power, on the journey that ended at the end of October.

The Japanese brand's hydrogen fuel cell-powered Mirai model traveled 1360 kilometers with a single charge and broke the Hyundai Nexo's 778 kilometers record.

TESTING ON RACE VEHICLES

Toyota has announced that it is testing hydrogen engines in race cars. The company stated that these trials on racing vehicles will be useful in data collection and can be used to fix the problems that occur.

According to the company's statements, hydrogen engines are being tested in Yaris models with a 1.6-liter engine.

According to the statements, two hydrogen tanks are placed behind these vehicles designed for races.

WHAT IS HYDROGEN FUEL VEHICLE?

Hydrogen-fueled vehicles also get their power from electricity, just like electric vehicles. However, there is no battery in hydrogen vehicles. These vehicles obtain electrical energy from the hydrogen contained in them.

Using hydrogen instead of fossil fuels such as gasoline and diesel is one of the best solutions to reduce the rate of carbon dioxide gas. For this reason, some manufacturers are working to further develop this technology.

The cost of hydrogen fuel and the lack of necessary fuel stations are two of the biggest obstacles to this technology.
