Honda has recently come up with the chip crisis and its statements. The Japanese manufacturer has recently announced that it will produce only electric cars in 2040. Like many other brands, Honda places great emphasis on electric vehicles. While these were happening, Honda detonated the bomb and officially introduced the new Civic model.
The new Civic, which is planned to enter the European market with its hatchback and sedan body style at the end of 2021, is designed with "Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum" approach. As you can see, the Civic's technologies and design will put the driver and passengers at the center.
In the interior of the new Civic Sedan, we see a very plain and simple approach, just like the exterior design. The variety and quality of materials used in the passenger compartment, which is described as quite spacious and comfortable, also seems to have increased. The metal trim piece placed in the middle of the dashboard supports the design while concealing the air vents.
Equipped with a standard 7 "semi-digital infotainment system monitor, the size of the fully digital instrument panel that comes in the Touring, the fullest version of the new Civic in the USA, is announced as 10.2".
The 7 "screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility has touch features and carries a number of shortcut keys. The next step is the 9" multimedia system that allows wireless Apple CarPlay connection.
Features such as the 12-speaker sound system and wireless charging, which are only standard in the Touring package and are options in other trim levels, can also be shown among the prominent equipment on the new Civic's technology wing.
When we look at the safety wing, we can see that Honda is working on the new Civic. Front airbags, which have been redesigned to reduce the effect of brain trauma, are the most important example of this. The 11th generation of the Civic, which offers a range of equipment with the name of the Safety Package in the already sold model, also has equipment such as automatic emergency brake, traffic jam assistant, adaptive cruise control.
In the new Civic, the Japanese brand has worked seriously in areas where the eyes are not touched, as well as design. Honda, which attaches great importance to driving dynamics in the eleventh generation, increased the torsion resistance of the chassis by 8% while improving the bending resistance by 13% thanks to materials such as aluminum and high-strength steel.
The rear track of the new Honda Civic, whose wheelbase has been increased by 35 mm, is 12.7 mm better than before. In addition to all these, the front suspension with McPherson arrangement can be shown as development studies to reduce friction in the ball joints, and the steering system settings to increase stability and dynamism.
Only two engine options will be offered in the new Honda Civic for now. The first of these completely petrol units will be available in the USA with the LX and Sport equipment packages. The four-cylinder atmospheric gasoline engine with a volume of 2.0 liters can produce 160 hp and 187 Nm of torque.
The 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo unit is included in the EX and Touring packages. 182 hp and 240 Nm of torque, the machine is also coupled with a CVT gearbox at 2.0 atmospheric.
