Premium automaker Lexus introduced the LF-Z Electrified concept vehicle with a global launch. With the launch of the concept vehicle, Lexus also revealed its vision of the future.

The hybrid vehicle strategy that started with the RX 400h in 2005 has reached a sales success of nearly 2 million units globally today. Today, Lexus sells nine hybrid and battery electric vehicles to around 90 countries around the world. Thanks to the brand's innovative approach and pioneering position in electric motors, it is taking stronger steps forward.

20 electric-powered Lexus to be introduced by 2025

The Lexus Electrified vision, shaped by the experience and innovative approach of the Lexus brand, will reach the consumer with cars that will again exceed the expectations of premium users.

The new LF-Z Electrified concept, which Lexus made its world launch, was also designed with this understanding. With its driving performance, impressive design and high technology capacity, it represents the features that Lexus will start to offer to the market in 2025.

The future of Lexus: LF-Z ELECTRIFIED

The LF-Z Electrified concept, which Lexus unveiled for the first time with online promotion, represents the future of the brand in terms of design, driving and advanced technologies. Models inspired by this concept will be introduced from 2025.

LF-Z Electrified, built on a specially developed electric vehicle platform, aims to further the brand's unique driving experience.

The exterior design of the vehicle emphasizes the emotional appeal unique to Lexus, combining this with a high powered electric motor positioned at the rear and dynamic performance. Inside the vehicle, a spacious and minimalist design stands out. The LF-Z Electrified's cabin design is inspired by the Japanese word Tazuna, which means "bridle". This human-centered Tazuna cockpit design allows the car to react to every move of the driver with the utmost precision, similar to the relationship between horse and rider.

Using dialogs with the driver, the vehicle's artificial intelligence learns personal preferences and the driver's behavior characteristics. Thus, it can provide information about route guidance and the destination.

The driving style, called Lexus Driving Signature, provides an uninterrupted communication with the driver during the acceleration, deceleration and steering of the car. The design and engineering of the LF-Z Electrified has also been done to further improve driving quality. The battery and engine are positioned to provide the best driving feel, and the center of gravity of the vehicle has been lowered. Noise and vibrations from the road surface have also been reduced thanks to the new positioning. Thus, the outstanding silence and driving comfort level of Lexus vehicles has been carried further. With the new layout, more living space and comfort is offered in the cabin.

Lexus' new DIRECT4 system enables high torque electric motors to be controlled independently. The system can adjust the vehicle as front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, depending on driving conditions. It changes the driving feel and provides the car with the best desired driving posture. The system realizes the optimum distribution of drive power on each axle, allowing the driver to get the maximum.

In addition, the electronically connected steering wheel does not have a mechanical connection with the steering shaft, which further enhances the driving feeling and prevents vibrations on the road. With advanced technologies and higher precision, the driver achieves a more exciting ride quality in all conditions.

The LF-Z Electrified has a length of 4,880, a width of 1,960 and a height of 1,600 mm. The battery capacity of the vehicle, which offers a range of 600 km, is 90 kWh. LF-Z Electrified, which has a power of 400 kW and a torque of 700 Nm, completes the acceleration of 0-100 km / h in 3 seconds.

Lexus new direction of design

The LF-Z Electrified concept also hints at how Lexus design will evolve. A streamlined design is revealed with a low nose and a rising rear, emphasizing the unique characteristic of the electric vehicle. The larger wheels are positioned on the outer parts of the vehicle, lowering the center of gravity and allowing the vehicle to have a wide stance on the road.

The designers also developed the "spindle" design, which is Lexus' iconic grille design, transferred to the whole body and made the vehicle look more impressive.

The simple horizontal design details at the rear of the vehicle provide a strong appearance with the wheels. The slim horizontal backlighting combination includes the new Lexus logo representing the next generation Lexus design.

Open cabin concept used in Tazuna cockpit

The Lexus LF-Z Electrified's cabin was inspired by the word Tazuna, which means "bridle" in Japanese. This new design concept takes the people-oriented approach of the brand to a higher level. Accordingly, Lexus, inspired by the relationship between the horse and the rider, communicating with the bridle, ensures that seamless interaction is realized with the closely coordinated buttons on the steering wheel and the indicators reflected on the windshield. The driver can access the functions and features of the vehicle without taking his eyes off the road.

In the cockpit at the heart of the vehicle, the instrument panel and other elements are positioned slightly lower than the passengers. This makes a reference to the philosophy of hospitality of omotenashi, which offers a refreshing sense of space where every detail has been carefully considered. In addition, the panoramic glass roof, which sells the roof, increases the feeling of spaciousness.

New generation technologies

The artificial intelligence feature of the LF-Z Electrified concept plays an active role by constantly learning the driver's preferences and shaping the driver indicators according to the user. Voice command communication makes driving easier. In addition, the voice recognition feature allows the driver to learn the behavior and preferences of the driver and make appropriate suggestions for the driver. It offers "lifestyle concierge" service by providing support in every field in order to improve the driver experience.

Thanks to the special digital key for family and friends, the vehicle can be accessed without a physical key. Features such as opening and locking the doors of the vehicle can be managed from the smartphone. Along with the digital key transportation provided to service providers, package delivery or vehicle sharing can also be made.

When someone with a key approaches, the door handle automatically exits. The doors can be opened and locked by lightly touching the sensor on the door handle. In addition, the sensors in the vehicle detect the vehicles and cyclists around, prevent the door from opening and reduce the risk of accidents that may occur while getting out of the vehicle.

The panoramic ceiling, made of electrochromic glass, can be darkened when desired, and lighting reflecting the night sky can be used on the ceiling. The touch panel in the middle of the roof allows front and rear passengers to communicate with each other, while the rear seats feature massage and recline.

The new generation Mark Levinson sound system provides international concert quality in the vehicle. The precise control of the speakers helps everyone inside to enjoy the music. The noise-reducing sound management feature filters the sounds coming from outside and allows the people in the vehicle to chat more comfortably.
