An airport for flying cars and "drones" will be built in Coventry, England. The project, which aims to show how air taxis will work in city centers, is expected to be implemented towards the end of this year.
BRITISH START-UP AND HYUNDAI PARTNERSHIP
British start-up Urban-Air Port has partnered with South Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motors to develop the infrastructure required for flying cars to take to the skies.
The airport, which is expected to open to visitors in November and called Urban Air Port, will include flying cars as well as drones carrying passengers and vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles.
1.2 MILLION STERLIN FUNDS
Urban-Air Port, however, was chosen by a government program aimed at developing new zero-emission aircraft and received a £ 1.2 million grant to help fund the airport's temporary installation in downtown Coventry.
Ricky Sandhu, founder and chairman of the board of directors of Urban Air-Port, said in a statement, "With the support of the British government and Hyundai Motor Group, we will undertake the construction of the first fully functional airport in the world.
