The Taycan, Porsche's first fully electric sports car, won the Guinness Book of Records by drifting 42 kilometers without interruption.
Porsche Taycan entered the Guinness Book of Records in the longest drift category with an electric vehicle. The world record took place at the Porsche Experience Center on the Hockenheimring track (PEC - Porsche Experience Center). Porsche trainer Dennis Retera took 210 laps with Taycan on the 200-meter long drift track. Having covered a total distance of 42,171 kilometers after 55 minutes, Taycan broke the world record in the longest continuous drift category with an electric car. The average speed was 46 km / h during the record ride with the rear-wheel drive version of the Taycan.
Stating that it is quite easy to make a powerful drift with the rear-wheel drive Taycan model by deactivating the driving stability programs, Dennis Retera said, “Sufficient power is always at hand. The fact that the center of gravity is close to the ground and the long axle distance provides stability. The precise design of the chassis and steering ensures perfect control at all times, even when moving sideways. ” said.
Before the record ride, documented by Guinness with independent experts and a range of technical equipment, measurements were carried out with millimeter precision by a local topographer in the 80-meter radius of the Porsche Experience Center. During the test, while the GPS and yaw sensors in the vehicle were measuring, images were recorded from the roof of the track control center.
Taycan continues to break records
Taycan currently holds records in many different categories: 3,425 kilometers of high-speed track covered in 24 hours in Nardo, Italy, 7:42 minutes lap time at the legendary Nordschleife - Nürburgring track known as Green Hell, and the first Acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h for 26 times at the airport in Lahr during their tests are just a few of them.
