BMW Motorrad held the world premiere of the BMW M 1000 RR, the most powerful motorcycle ever produced.
With the new BMW M 1000 RR, motorcycle enthusiasts also join the world of high performance and fascinating BMW M. Based on the S 1000 RR, the new BMW M 1000 RR represents the power of the M models with its more performance and lighter structure. Featuring a blend of iconic M colors, the M 1000 RR is the most powerful motorcycle model BMW Motorrad has ever produced with the improvements and customizations made. The new BMW M 1000 RR exceeds the expectations in the Superbike segment with its curb weight of only 192 kg, power of 212 hp and a suspension designed for racing performance.
Four Cylinder Engine Designed for Track
At the heart of the new M RR is a water-cooled inline four-cylinder engine with variable valve timing. As with the RR, BMW ShiftCam technology on the M RR can control the intake valves as required via a control camshaft. Depending on the speed, the valve opening interval and valve travel can be adjusted to provide the best performance for the M RR. The engine, which can turn 15,100 rpm, provides its maximum power of 212 hp at 14,500 rpm, and offers its maximum torque of 113 Nm at 11,000 rpm. The engine, which is a modified version of the RR, has 2-ring forged pistons, titanium connecting rods, and an increased compression ratio of 13.5. The M RR, which is 5 kg lighter than the RR with its special Akrapovic exhaust system and carbon rims, can reach a speed of 6 to 7 seconds from 0 to 200 km/h.
Later Braking and Quicker Acceleration
Aerodynamics stands out as one of the most important features that have been decisive in the work to improve the technical features of the M RR. Having the maximum performance required to win a race, the M RR is able to ensure the best possible contact of the wheels with the road while accelerating. Developed through lengthy testing procedures on the racetrack and BMW's wind tunnel, the M winglets made of transparent carbon create the aerodynamic downforce required. The additional wheel load on the front wheel helps the driver achieve faster lap times while countering wheel inclination. While the effect of the fins can be felt clearly in bends, they can provide higher cornering stability when braked.
Maximum Driving Pleasure on the Road or Track
The new M RR offers maximum pleasure in street and track use with the driving modes it offers. The new M RR features four standard riding modes 'Rain', 'Road', 'Dynamic' and 'Race', as well as additional riding modes 'Race Pro 1', 'Race Pro 2' and 'Race Pro 3'. The latest 'Dynamic Traction Control' system with fine tuning for greater safety and performance during acceleration is offered as standard. Dynamic Traction Control also provides the option of fine tuning in 'Race Pro' riding modes.
A First in BMW Motorrad: M Brakes and M Carbon Wheels
With the new M RR, a BMW motorcycle with M brakes is getting ready for the first time. M brakes, developed with BMW Motorrad's racing brakes experience at the Superbike World Championship, draw attention with their blue-colored M brake calipers and the M logo. With the high-tech M carbon wheels, the new M RR is able to offer maximum performance on the racetrack and on the road.
6.5 Inch TFT Display and Instrument Panel with OBD Interface
The dashboard of the new M RR has the same basic design and M start animation as the RR. The 6.5 inch TFT screen with convenient OBD interface is perfectly readable with its dimensions and resolution.
