BMW is approaching serial production step by step for the BMW i4, the latest electric model that retains the brand's characteristics.
The BMW i4, the second model BMW has developed and produced completely electrically after the i3, will deliver unmatched driving dynamics, sporty sensation, elegant design, first-class quality and the wide comfort and functionality of a four-door Gran Coupe.
Equipped with the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, which incorporates the latest innovations in battery technology, the BMW i4 aims to set new standards with sporting features while offering a range of up to 600 kilometers. The BMW i4, intended to meet the roads in 2021, will be produced at the main factory in Munich.
By 2023, the BMW Group, which aims to bring together 25 electric models in the road, undergoes the BMW i4, one of the most important representatives of this target, in the toughest winter conditions of the batteries.
The 5th Generation BMW eDrive technology, which includes electric motor, power electronics, charging unit and high-voltage batteries, developed completely from scratch, will take place in BMW i4 as well as BMW iX3 and BMW iNEXT. The new high-voltage battery, weighing 550 kilograms and with an energy potential of about 80 kWh, will give the BMW i4 a range of about 600 kilometers.
Offering a charging capacity of up to 150 kw, these batteries can be recharged at a rate of 80 percent in about 35 minutes. This will allow it to reach a range of approximately 100 kilometers with a 6-minute charge.
