BMW takes the BMW i4, the latest electric model, which retains the brand's characteristic features, into series production step by step.
The BMW i4, BMW's second model, developed and produced fully electrically after the i3, offers unmatched driving dynamics, a sporty feel, sleek design, first-class quality and the wide comfort and functionality of a four-door Gran Coupé. Equipped with the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, which incorporates the latest innovations in battery technology, the BMW i4 aims to set new standards with sporting features while offering a range of up to 600 kilometers. The BMW i4, intended to meet the roads in 2021, will be produced at the main factory in Munich.
25 new electric models up to 2023
The BMW Group, which aims to bring together 25 electric models by 2023, undergoes rigorous testing in one of the most important representatives of this target, the BMW i4, in the most challenging winter conditions. The 5th Generation BMW eDrive technology, including electric motor, power electronics, charging unit and high-voltage batteries, developed completely from scratch, will take part in the BMW iX3 and BMW iNEXT as well as the BMW i4. The electric motor developed for the BMW i4 has a maximum power of approximately 530 hp. With this high power output, it is prepared to deliver as high performance as a BMW model with an 8-cylinder engine.
The BMW i4 will remain true to the brand's history with its driving character. The new high-voltage battery, weighing 550 kilograms and with an energy potential of about 80 kWh, will give the BMW i4 a range of about 600 kilometers. Offering a charging capacity of up to 150 kW, these batteries can be charged to 80 percent in about 35 minutes. This will allow it to reach a range of approximately 100 kilometers with a 6-minute charge.
The BMW i4 will be powered from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds
Prepared to become the first Gran Coupé of the BMW i brand, the BMW i4 also stands out with its impressive performance features. The BMW i4 will accelerate from 0-100 km / h in approximately 4.0 seconds, while achieving a top speed of over 200 km / h. Built on a flexible vehicle architecture, the new model is also on the ground and the high-voltage batteries that keep the vehicle's center of gravity to a minimum ensure the characteristic proportions of the 4-door coupé. Dynamically elongated lines and a precise surface design, aerodynamically optimized exterior features and sustainability highlights unique to BMW are highlighted. A spacious, variable interior with high entry and exit comfort for rear passengers, designed for both day trips and long-distance trips.
