Porsche GT Team sets a new record at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. In Bowmanville, the Porsche 911 RSR came in first and the Porsche brand won its fifth consecutive victory.
The Porsche GT Team once again came home triumphantly at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario, Canada, with impeccable pit stops and good strategy. Immediately after the start, the pilots fully exposed the potential of the 911 RSR and achieved first place finish in the first round. When the remaining time was around an hour, Earl Bamber took the lead and did not leave until the flag. Earl Bamber and Laurens Vanthoor became leaders, surpassing colleagues in the sister car, Patrick Pilet and Nick Tandy. Thanks to his fifth victory in six races in the 2019 IMSA season, he further reinforced his leadership in the manufacturer class.
In the GTD class, the brand's pilot, Patrick Long (USA) and Patrick Lindsey (USA), came in fourth. He missed the double podium with a 911 GT3 R through Park Place Motorsports in just 0.373 seconds. Using the same 500+ horsepower GT3 model, Pfaff Motorsports returned home with fifth place.
