From 2021 onwards, automobile manufacturers are waiting for a tough process in terms of tight emission values. FCA, the electric car giant Tesla has made a significant deal with the preparation!
FCA will pay Tesla to break the emission limit!
In accordance with the European Commission's decision, carmakers have to achieve an average of 95 g/km on carbon dioxide emissions. Producers who do not comply with the border will face billions of euros in fines from 2021 onwards. Fiat/Chrysler Group is the most affected manufacturer. The group, which has an average of 123 gr/km, is not expected to pull its values down in such a short time.
According to the Financial Times, the group has reached an agreement with Tesla to reduce this limit. Within the scope of the agreement, Tesla's European models will be shown under the roof of FCA in emission tests. Thanks to the pool to be created, Fiat/Chrysler will save up to 2 billion euros per year. The value of the agreement is expressed as hundreds of millions of dollars.
The Fiat/Chrysler group is not the only company in this field. Toyota and Mazda, which carry out joint efforts in the American market, are also talking about a similar initiative in Europe. On the other hand, it is wondered how the European Commission will express its opinion on this step.
