Michelin, better handling performance during Ferrari's track meet the requirements as designed and introduced MICHELIN Pilot Sport tires Cup2 R has developed a special version.
The world's largest tire manufacturer Michelin has developed a special version of the Michelin Pilot Sport tires for the Ferrari 488 Cup2 R Pista model. K1 * marked new tires, Michelin has been redesigned to meet the requirements of better handling during Ferrari's track performance by engineers. The MICHELIN Pilot Sport tires Cup2 Run Road approved for use at high speed provides high performance on dry ground thanks to the precision to get perfect corners.
10 percent more ground contact and higher handling
MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup2 R tires, which were redesigned by Michelin engineers and developed backpacks for motor sports, used backpack components developed for motor sports. The Michelin engineers increased the structural strength of the tire, allowing the components to take advantage of the greater handling characteristics than the special tread pattern, and achieved 10% more ground contact and 5% better handling compared to the standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 equipment.
As with all tires developed by Michelin in cooperation with Ferrari, driving simulators of two brands were used in the development process. Ferrari test pilots worked together with Michelin engineers to use the Michelin TameTire® physical tire modeling simulator software developed by Michelin to enable drivers to test virtual tires before conventional runway tests.
”Increased lap time performance“
The real challenge was to push the limits of the 488 Pista model's handling feature further, 48 said Pierre Chaput, engineer for the development of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tires for the Ferrari 488 Pista. Thanks to the. R performans version of the Pilot Sport Cup2 tires, the Ferrari 488 Pista's characteristic feature is that we have enjoyed a great increase in lap time performance while driving.
