All new Jeep Wrangler models with the Fiat Chrysler Automobile company's eTorque semi-hybrid technology will use Continental's new Eco Drive system.
Compact, 48-volt Continental Eco Drive with integrated power electronics; it contributes to the benefits of eTorque technology, such as improved fuel economy, improved auto-start reflection, general start-stop function and low noise level.
The Eco Drive allows the transmission of torque to the crankshaft 88.5 lb-ft (120 Nm-131.7kg/m) with the auxiliary drives on the front-rear of the engine. This enables automatic start-up in less than 0.5 seconds. The 31.5 lb (14.3 kg) Jeep model helps to maximize regenerative braking and becomes the market leader with a power density of 4.1 kW/L.
In addition, this technology delivers twice the torque to the wheels compared to the traditional 12-volt starter. The liquid-cooled 48-volt Eco Drive rotates the engine faster, making the advantages of eTorque even more pronounced.
Uncompromising power
Aya When our team began working on the 48-volt Continental Eco Drive for Jeep Wrangler, we knew it would be an incredible experience, Continental said Beyza Sarıoğlu, Head of Continental North American Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Business at the head of the car. Or In addition to improving fuel economy, eTorque technology also supports the performance of the vehicle, especially under extreme conditions. The liquid cooling of the Continental Eco Drive and the inverter provides incredible power delivering superior performance at high ambient temperatures.
Versatile technology for different applications
The 48-volt Continental Eco Drive is based on a modular concept. This enables Continental to scale technology to meet the power and performance requirements of many vehicle classes, including the compact Renault Scénic diesel, the Audi A8 Performance Saloon and the high volume Jeep Wrangler SUV. In addition, consumers can try the brand new eTorque technology in the 2019 Ram 1500 with the 2019 Wards Top 10 Motor Award winners with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine.
