Toyota's racing team Gazoo Racing succeeded in winning the Finnish Rally, where WRC enthusiasts could not wait impatiently, with narrow and pebbled roads, sharp bends, hill-climbing hills and tougher stages down to the depths of the forest.
While Toyota was first in the Finnish Rally, the season's most exciting race, with Ott Tänak, the other pilot of the team, Jari-Matti Latvala, took the third place on the tough course and was in the podium.
Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja, with the Yaris WRC cars, completed the rally with a lead time of 2 hours, 35 minutes and 18.1 seconds. The pair, who made the closest rivalry with a difference of 32.7 seconds, gave Toyota important points in the World Rally Championship and reduced the points difference with the second team. The difference in points with the leader was down to 27.
After the race, Toyota President Akio Toyoda, who celebrated victory with his pilots on the podium, evaluated the rally as follows;
"There can be no happier feeling than winning the race in our own home. All our pilots enjoyed this rally. The Finnish roads contributed to making the Yaris WRC better and pilots enjoying the ride. I came here for the first time after my visit to Toyota on the way back to WRC. I have never seen so many people who support Toyota Gazoo Racing. They clearly felt that this was our home. The special stages were filled with the Toyota Gazoo Racing flags. We see more and more support all over the world. We have a long way to go this season. We do not have a Japan rally yet at WRC. I hope we have a chance to see that one day. "
Ott Tänak, who won the race, also had a perfect preparation period as a team, saying "Winning in Finland is very important. We won in my own name and on behalf of the team. Winning in front of those who supported us was unbelievable. "
The ninth race of 2018 at the WRC will be held in Germany. The German Rally, which draws attention with its asphalt track and tough bends, will be held on August 16-19. The Toyota Gazoo Racing team will also have fun moments in the Turkish motorsport in Mugla Rally, the 10th calendar of the calendar on September 13-16.
