The UK premium SUV maker Range Rover will try to increase the share of the super-luxury SUV segment with its high-tech systems and more luxury that will be presented to customers with the new generation. Cars produced under the roof of Land Rover will compete with models like Bentley Bentway, Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Audi Q9, which has not yet seen the face. Explaining that all Range Rovers will switch to a new platform, Land Rover said that the platform will be much lighter than before.
This platform, named Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA), will use aluminum parts and all of the Jaguar-Land Rover models will be based on the MLA. The company, which also provides space for batteries that will use hybrid and electric cars with this light weight, has announced that the platform has been shaped into a suitable structure for electrical architecture. The company plans to make the first electric Range Rover a car that is separate from other models, and plans to produce a vehicle in a station wagon body with a more limited off-road capability than other cars.
The Range Rover models, which will also update the range of engines in the range, will begin to use in-line six-cylinder petrol and diesel Ingenium engines instead of Ford's V6 units. It is planned to be accompanied by a 48V mild hybrid system to the engine units to be produced in the settlement in Wolverhampton. Carbon dioxide emissions are expected to be as high as in the older generations of the new Range Rovers, which will be equipped with these inline six-cylinder engines, which will remain below current regulations.
