Timo Bernhard completed the 20,832-meter Nürburgring Nordschleife, 5 minutes 19,55 seconds of lap time, shown by motorsports enthusiasts as the world's toughest track, with the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo.

Bernhard's Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo's average speed on the track was 233.8 kilometers per hour. With this result, Bernhard managed to surpass Stefan Bellof's previous record of 51.58 seconds. Bellof's record of 6 minutes 11.13 seconds has not broken for 35 years. Bellof broke the Nürburgring record on May 28, 1983, during the preparations for the 1,000-kilometer World Endurance Championship (WEC), steering the 620-horsepower Rothmans Porsche 956 C, reaching an average speed of over 200 km / h.

Timo Bernhard, who had five victories in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, two victories in the Le Mans 24-hour race, and holding the Porsche 919 Hybrid and WEC championship titles, came out with great comfort and pride from the narrow cockpit of Le Mans prototype. "This was a great moment for me and my team and the success of the 919 program.919 The Hybrid Evo was perfectly prepared and I did the best I could ever get. Thanks to the pressure of the aerodynamics on the car, I was able to get a fast pace in the parts of the track that I could hardly predict. Nordschleife is a well known track, but today I found the opportunity to get to know the track in a completely different way ".

The Evo version of the Porsche 919 Hybrid was developed on the basis of a car that first finished the Le Mans 24-hour race in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and won the FIA World Endurance Championship. As a result of the improvements made during the winter, the car's hybrid engine, which escaped the limitations imposed by race rules up to now, has reached 1160 hp. The aerodynamics of the Evo, which weighs only 849 kilograms, and which is now becoming active, is applying 50 percent more power down the automobile than the WEC model. The maximum speed the car has recorded at the Nürburgring is 369.4 kilometers per hour.
