Mercedes decided to enter the super-luxury electric car race. Michael Kelz, the company's senior manager, announced that the top-of-the-line S-Class sedan will come out with an electric version.

Although Mercedes officials did not give details about the car's technical features and price, it confirmed that it would have zero emissions and that the S-Class segment would meet luxury.

Another proven subject that the name will be EQ S and registration is taken, but this tool will be a new design which will not be done on the S-Class platform.

HATCHBACK AND CROSSOVER

Kelz also noted the difficulty of adapting the electric power transmission centers to the electrical disturbance due to the axle distances and clearance of the internal combustion engine sedan vehicles with low ground distances, because the S Class platform known as MRA does not allow for 100 percent electric compatibility but can be converted into plug-in hybrid technology.

For another MRS-based model, the new CLS, Kelz said that they are not planning a hybrid CLS at the moment, but they can evaluate it if there is a high demand.

The German carmaker has already announced that all of its existing series will be on the market in 2022, but the EQ S model will be ready for 2020 and will go into the market with two different models. These are the EQA hatchback model and the EQ C crossover.
