Honda aims to change the lap times of front-wheel drive cars at European iconic racetracks with 'Civic Type R Time Attack 2018'. Former Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button will lead the Honda Civic Type R 2017 Nürburgring Nordschleife front-wheel drive mass-production car, a special event inspired by the lap time record.
With Honda, Civic Type R, a series of events to mark the new lap times at European iconic racetracks are being prepared for a lifetime. In 2016, a similar event was held using the previous generation Civic Type R; New lap times were recorded at Silverstone, Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, Estoril and Hungaroring. For 2018, Honda aims to further improve the times recorded in Silverstone (England), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) and Estoril (Portugal) in 2016 and record new lap times on more pistes.
The 2018 Time Attack Civic Type R, which continues to be exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show, is powered by a 2.0-liter VTEC TURBO engine. The engine produces 320 HP at 6.500 rpm and offers 400 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm to 4,500 rpm. With a maximum speed of 272 km / h, the Civic Type R completes the speed of 0-100 km / h in 5.7 seconds. The new Honda Civic Type R took the fastest front-wheel-drive car title in the Nürburgring Nordschleife 7 minutes 43.8 seconds before breaking the lap record.
